✨ HIGHLIGHTS ✨
perhaps the most magical moment of my life
From an article in the New York Times:
“Marcus Eldh, a nature guide and the founder of a tour company called WildSweden, took me along for what remains perhaps the most magical moment of my life: sitting at the edge of a lake, surrounded by a forest and the semidarkness of Swedish summer, listening to the howling of wolves just a few hundred meters away. They knew we were there, of course, but chose to remain nearby, making this auditory encounter one entirely on their terms.”

The program
-
We meet up at Köping train station in the afternoon. We will drive to our storage where we will re-pack everything in the backpacks before we head out in the forest to begin your adventure.
When we are all set we will leave the civilization and head out to a nearby forest, the territory of a resident wolf family.
Arriving in the forest we embark on a forest hike to set up camp. Hammocks are strung up, and together, we prepare for our first night under the stars. A crackling campfire and an outdoor feast mark the evening, the sun bidding us farewell over the tranquil woods.
Imagine this: a dark forest, trees whispering, and the night sky overhead, all while knowing a wolf family roams nearby. We wait in anticipation, the experience of hearing wolves howl can be both meditative and thrilling.
Night in hammocks.
-
Rise and shine to a forest breakfast with steaming coffee and tea. If we believe that there is a chance to spot wolves we may get up for a morning excursion.
Today, our focus shifts to tracking — paw prints, droppings, and other telltale signs that wolves are sharing the landscape.
Dive into the world of wolf behavior and current conservation issues, answering burning questions:
• What defines a wolf territory?
• Why do wolves howl?
• Who's the leader of the pack?
• How many wolves does it take to kill a moose?
As night falls, be ready for a silent, headlamp-lit walk through rugged terrain. Our destination: a strategic spot where we settle in, listening for the captivating sounds of the night.
Night in hammocks.

Another morning in the forest brings a delightful breakfast amid the trees wrapping up our extraordinary adventure together.
We get another chance to track and watch for wolves before it is time to pack up. we bid farewell to our temporary woodland home, and head back to civilization.
After two nights in the wild, consider staying the next night in Stockholm for a well-deserved shower and the comfort of a proper bed.
End of adventure. Goodbye!

We stay two nights wild camping in the forest. The exact location is kept a secret and it is very important that you don't share this information with anyone. We will explain why. These walks are slow with stops along the way and rarely last for more than an hour. Please only sign up for this tour if you think you will be fit enough for these walks.

This tour is not specifically adapted for photographing wildlife, although there will be plenty of opportunities to photograph the natural wonders that we may see.
THIS adventure IS RATED EXCELLENT BY EARLIER GUESTS!
Frequently asked questions
-
Wolves in Sweden are very shy and difficult to see in the wild, mainly since the landscape is flat and the forests are dense. Our main focus on this tour is therfore to listen for howls, search for tracks like paw prints, territorial markings, killed prey and to learn and understand.
If the current situation is promising, we may also watch for wolves at some strategic location. Although our guests rarely get to see Wolves it does happen occasionally.
And most of our guests agree that it is more impressive to hear the howls of a pack in a dark forest, than to see them.

We always stay at a respectful distance as we don't want to disturb the wolves. It is of course in our interest that the wolves do not move to another area.
